An island style escape - Stunning oak A-frame Waterfront home
Accessible by water only!
The house has proved to be a great success for extended families, for families who wish to entertain their overseas guests or relatives or just for a great family holiday to spend some quality time with family or friends. There is something to do for all ages. Fishing, kayaking, boating, walks or just take in the wildlife, serenity. water views and clean air (no cars on Barpoint)
The space
I am not offering accommodation…I am offering a lifestyle/ holiday resort that only the very rich can afford but who don’t have the time to enjoy it.
Perched only 60 metres away from the private jetty, the home itself is an entertainer’s delight. It melds perfectly to be what you need it to be - fantastic fishing cabin for a weekend away with the boys, base camp for exploring local wildlife, beach house with plenty of areas to relax for a weekend escape, clubhouse with games, firepit, pool table and ping pong for a family tribe on school holidays.
My dream with this home is to provide a space which caters to anything you could wish to do in this pristine location. And, I have to say, so far, so good.
Assuming you are lucky enough to know some millionaire, who will give you their holiday house FREE for a weekend, You will still be more out of pocket if you had to hire the kayaks, wash the linen farm out the dogs to kennels, pay for fire wood and leave a small gift to say “thank you” and live with the debt that you may feel you owe them…
Don’t bother.. You don’t need them anymore. You have it all at my house...and to annoy them, just invite them for a BBQ.. You can even offer to pick them up on my boat..!! And if you are generous enough let them stay overnight telling them they don’t have to wash the linen when they leave.
Unfortunately, it still cost quite a bit to stay here (and will stay so until my bank manager lets me off my mortgage repayments…don’t hold your breath), however if you take the cost of heating your house, going to restaurants, kennelling the dogs etc from the cost and divide the remainder (if any) between 2 full families, 4 couples or 10 friends you will realise just what good value you are getting.
No cars on the "island", no traffic no smog just pure air and great views.. The front yard is the river where you can fish ski kayak ... The immediate back yard is enclosed and comes with an outdoor BBQ and a Huge fire pit. On the other side of the backyard is the Popran National park where you can hike, walk down the only road (or path) Kalinda road, get some free fire wood or just take in the nature. If the bush is a bit rough for you then walk on the grassed reserve in front of the house which is more of an extended garden than a reserve. Visit the local Post office and see how post offices were some centuries back (open 24/7) You can even fish from the post office when the postman has gone.
Visit the historic Bar island with the church ruins and grave stones (boat access only) or simply explore the waterways with your boat or mine.
Now for something different How often have you gone shopping or to restaurant by boat??? Now is your opportunity with numerous shops, restaurants and bars that can be accessed by boat.
There is something for all. All you have to do is book early to ensure no disappointments
Guest access
The house may as well be on an island as it can only be accessed from the water. The nearest car park is at Mooney Mooney.
Mooney Mooney is under 1 hour from Sydney, on the F3, just after crossing the Hawkesbury River Bridge. Turn left and proceed approximately 200 metres to a roundabout, turn left and proceed to the car park or advertised “rest area”. The newly renovated car park has plenty of parking for your car
The car park is aptly labelled as " Rest Area" This is where you leave your car and all your stresses and worries behind. From here on its just holiday time... But you still have a 20 min boat trip to get to the house. Think of it as arriving overseas and catching a taxi to your hotel
IF YOU DONT HAVE A BOAT/JET SKI or KAYAK
No Sweat you can hire a water taxi, catch the postman ferry at AUD 20 per person (Mon to Friday) from Brooklyn at 10:00 daily or organize with me the VIP package which includes pickup and drop off service and the full use of a pontoon boat for the duration of your stay
IF YOU HAVE A BOAT/JET SKI or KAYAK
At the Mooney Mooney car park there is newly built boat ramp and plenty of space to leave your car and trailer.
If your boat is not on a trailer, then no sweat as well.. The Hawkesbury flows into the sea with its mouth at Palm Beach.. A great trip from anywhere including Sydney harbour and the Parramatta river
The house has a 2/3 ownership of a private jetty and can easily accommodate up to a 7 meter boat. Any bigger you may have to anchor a bit out to sea and use my boat to taxi to the house or arrange with Peats Bite restaurant to moor there. (Peate bite restaurant is directly across the river from the house)
IF YOU DONT HAVE A CAR OR A BOAT
Still no excuse… Catch the train to the Hawkesbury river station and catch a water taxi or the postman ferry 20 meters from the station. Speak to me about the VIP package as well
Other things to note
The Jetty servicing the house is shared with 1 of my neighbours. . The neighbour’s boats are out of bounds and must not be tampered with or boarded.sxo as
